THE UNEMPLOYED.
1011 MEN IN WORK. The weekly meeting of the Unemployment Committee 'was held this morning when there were present: Messrs J. A. Nash, M.P. (m the chair), Mansford, Batchelar, Graham and Hodgens and Lowden (secretary). Three applications under No. 4A scheme were received and agreed to. Mr Lowden reported that the allocation for the week would provide 250 single men with two days r work and 748 married men with two days. The latter total included 13 new men with big families, while the balance of the money would allow the giving of 66 married men with big families an extra day. The chairman commented that the figures disclosed that 1011 wore being found employment, while there were 131 not placed. Mr D. F. Watson, secretary of the Unemployed Workers’ Movement, who had occupied a seat ,dn the committee, tendered his resignation, which was accepted:
