York, Dr. Temple, preaching at St. Peter’s. Dr. Temple said: “Armaments have been representative of the conception of national sovereignty which is politically, pernicious and; an abomination to Cnristians. The opportunity now afforded to abandon, competition for co-operation is the acid test of the sincerity of the hom-j age we pay to peace. , “I believe and still believe in Britain’s duty in 1914. lam still more convinced that there is an urgent duty to prevent a recurrence of a situation in which such a course is obligatory or even permissible,” Dr. Temple added.
