SKILLED RELIEF WORK.
REFUSAL BY UNEMPLOYED. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Dec. 13. At a meeting of the Johnsonville Town Board, on the motion of the chairman it was decided to empower the chairman of the works committee to refuse work to men who turned down labour allotted to them. The motion arose from a report that a certain section of the unemployed relief workers would refuse to work in their own trades. It was stated that a little skilled trade work is required to keep relief workers in labour and that the board is unable to pay award rates for skilled workmen.
