EMBARRASSING GIFT.
LAMB FOR KING GEOHGE. A number of the Christmas gilt lambs .sent from Australia have been addressed to members of the Royal family, and are causing embarrassment. Ail Adelaide lady sent one to the King, accompanied by a scriptural (imitation. The King, however, is not able to accept gifts from private citizens, but it is hoped that the lamb will reach some member of the Royal family. IRISH PIE FOR THE KING. Dublin is. speculating on the attitude that will he adopted by the new Gov-ernor-General. Air Donald Buckley, concerning the Christmas present_ of “four and twenty woodcocks baked in a pie” that has been sent to the King of England by Irish Viceroys for the past 114 years. Alessrs Healy and McNeill observed the custom, tiie pic. accompanied by Christmas greetings, being delivered to the King bv special courier, hut it is considered that there is small chance of a pie being sent this year.
