GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL v. DANNEVIRK.E HIGH SCHOOL. On Monday last a team from the Palmerston North Girls’ High School travelled to Dannevirke tor the annual tennis match. The Palmerston North girls were successful, winning every "set. Details are as follow: Singles.—B. McDonald beat A. Carston, 7 —3; B. Oakley beat M. Tait, 7 —5; J. Spilman beat N. May 7 —6, E. Sinclair beat J. Wright 7—4, J. Wilby beat 8.. Crommelin 7 —o, M. Oakley beat N. Joyce 7 —5, I. Graham, beat E. Hansen 7 —2, M. Currie beat B. Webley 7—l. Doubles. —B. McDonald and B. Oakley beat A. Webley, 9 —6. Girls’ High School 12 sets, 92 games; Dannevirke District High School, 46 games. BOYS’ SCHOOL v. GIRLS’ SCHOOL. 'Oil Tuesday, December 13, a friendly match was played between the Boys’ High School and the Girls’ High School tennis teams. The boys were successful, though many games were very close. Currie beat G. Bundle and M. Dixon, 9 —6. Boys’ High School 7 sets, 80 games; Girls’ High School, 5 sets, 70 games. MAYFAIR v. FIRE BRIGADE. A return match between the Mayfair and Palmerston North Fire Brigade Tennis Clubs resulted in a win for the former by 15 sets and 98 games to 4 sets and 66 games. McKenzie beat Misses Lampard and Lewis 6—5. Mixed Doubles.—Anthony and Mrs Travers beat Ireton and Miss Turner 6—4, Cosgrove and Miss Kempson lost to Nesbit and Miss Millar I—6, Travers and Miss P. During the matches afternoon tea was served by the ladies of the Brigade, which the players greatly enjoyed.
