TEE WEATHER

GENERAL FORECAST. 4. moderate westerly depression is crossing New Zealand, but pressure is still rather high to the north and a fresh anti-cyclone has passed Tasmania. North to west winds at first; moderate to strong generally, but in places of gale force; backing temporarily to south-west at most places during the next 24 hours. Seas rough on the West Coast, about Cook Strait, and in the far south; elsewhere moderate in New Zealand waters. Moderate to strong southwest to north-west winds in the eastern Tasman Sea, and moderate to rather rough seas. Weather rather unsettled generally ; somte rain likely in districts with a westerly aspect and on the high country; showers extending later also to parts of eastern districts, but mainly in the South Island. Temperatures rather cooler to-day.

DISTRICT REPORT. WARM TEMPERATURES. The Government meteorologist telegraphed to-day : —The indications are For variable and moderate breezes, later becoming moderate northerlies. Fair weather may be expected, with warm temperatures. The barometer shows little movement.
