Among the tramps who have passed through one provincial casual ward recently were a mining engineer who spoke eight languages, a man who had been sales manager to a London firm, and an ex-Civil Servant unemployed through staff reductions. A £5,000,000 overhead aerodrome, in the shape of a giant steel wheel, half a mile in diameter, is being planned for central London. The “wheel” is is to be supported by 36 sky-scrapers, and the design will be such that planes can always make a safe landing, irrespective of the direction of the wind. Now thero is plenty of time to make a pretty frock for Christmas. If you want to follow tho English idea for the second day of the Christmas Races, be sure to wear a smart cotton frock made from Floral Pique Voile or any other good quality cotton material. Royal Ascot was outtsanding for this auaint idea. Piquo Voiles come in wonderfully smart designs and colours. They look so well if gracefully worn. Guaranteed shades, 36 inch, best auality, 3s 6d yard —Collinson and Cunuinghame, Ltd.— Advt.
