WOODVILLE, Nov. 15. The Christmas fair held by the Woodville corps of the Salvation Army in the Foresters’ Hall yesterday afternoon and evening proved a gratifying success, tne decorated stalls were well stocked with a tempting array of produce and articles, practically all of which was sold the official opening ceremony was performed by the Mayor. Those in charge of stalls were as follow: Drapery, Miss Lagor, Misß Shearman and helpers. Meat and provisions, Mr Jackson and gymnasium boys. Cakes, Mesdames Shearman, Lagor, Meekin, Richards (senior) and helpers. Produce, Mesdames Hammond, Dew and Carrington. Home League Stall, Mrs Mills and members of the league. Sweets, Mrs Richards junr. and gymnasium girls. Fruit salad and ice cream, Mrs Keay, Mrs Taylor, Miss Mills and Miss Pallet. Tea rooms, Mesdames Orme, Gwilliam, Zimmerman and helpers. Pupils of Woodville district scohols who were successful in the proficiency ond competency examinations are as follow. Papatawa: Proficiency, E. Eades, V. Eades, J. Golder, M. Golder, B. HaJpm, E. The Woodville Horticultural Society’s genoral committee met on Monday evening, Mr M. Forster presiding. Lhe definition of a profosisonal was discussed at length and was decided that the following definition bo adopted and included in the schcdulo: “A person whoso entire livelihood is derived from raising and selling flowers or vegetables or flower or. vegetable plants shall be doomed a professional.” The quarterly meeting of tho Loyal Tamaki Lodgo of Past Grands, M.U., 'J.0.0.F., was held in Woodville on Monday evening, the president, P.G. Bro. T. Moir, presiding over a largo attendance of members. Visitors from the Loyal Manawatu Lodgo of Past Grands were also present. Tho election of offioer3 for the ensuing term resulted as follows: —President, P.G. Bro. F. Mackie; vice-president, P.G. Bro. 0. C. Morris; conductors, P.P.’s Bros. W. H. Toogood and Studd. Following the election of officers tho New Zealand Grand Master, Bro. H. S. M. Quigley installed the newly-elected membors into their respective chairs. Two new members took Past Grand degrees and were initiated as membors of tho Loyal Tamaki Lodgo. Interesting- information was given by Bro. Quigley regarding the new ritual for Post Grand Lodges. It was decided that the noxt meeting of the Lodge bo held at Dannevirko in tho first week in March.
