RAILWAY REVENUE.
IMPROVEMENT SHOWN. WELLINGTON, Dec. 16. The railway revenue in Now Zealand for the period of 31J weeks from April 1 last to November 7 totalled £3,444,957 and expenditure was £3,185,098, leaving a net revenue of £259,859. The latter figure is an increase of about one-third on the net revenue, £194,381, for the corresponding period last year. The improvement lias been obtnined in spite of a great reduction in total income, by extensive cuts in expenses. Tho total revenue was £283,705 less during tho period just completed than for tho corresponding period Inst yoar, but the fall was more than offsot by a reduction of £349,183 in expenditure this year.
