PAHIATUA. Dec. 16. Mr and Mrs F. H. Taylor, Glen Road, Wellington, and Miss Betty Taylor, are arriving next week to spend a holiday in Pahiatua. Miss M. Whitmore, England, who lias been- touring Australia is tho guest of her aunt, Mrs 11. Kelsey, Tararua Street.
A tennis fixture took place at tho Pahiatua District High School yesterday, when the teachers played tlie pupils. The pupils showed too good form for their elders and won ouf by 14 sets to 4 or 97 games to 50. Tho electric power failed yesterday afternoon from about 4 p.m. to 4.30. Tho outage was caused through a piece of wire being accidentally thrown over the Power Board’s 11,000 volt line from Mangamairo at the now Pahiatua Railway Bridge. At the Pahiatua District High School yesterday morning, Mr G. L. Stafford, who is shortly to be married, was made the presentation of a crystal vase from. his fellow teachers.
