SQUARE GARDENS.
DEVELOPMENT OF BEAUTY SPOT.
Excepting for a small patch sown when the weather was dry, the grass has taken very well in the Square gardens, where they have been altered and laid out again, and it is anticipated that in six months’ time there will be a good sward. The beds of stocks and phlox adjacent to tho Memorial monument are growing well. Old trees have been pulled out from various parts of the gardens, and new ones, mostly deciduous, planted. Trees which are expected to provide shade in future yea re have been planted in the areas adjoining tho railway, Tho whole lay out, with its beautiful profusion of colour carefully blended, immediately appeals to the visitor to the gardens and is the object of much comment by strangers.
