DOUBLE DROWNING.

Per Press Association. WHAKATANE, Dec. 17. A double drowning accident occurred late yesterday afternoon in the Wliakatane River at Poroporo, whereby Willis (“Dummy”) Savage, aged 35, lost his life in attempting to rescue his son aged seven, who got into difficulties while bathing with other native children. The father dived fully clothed, and it is surmised was caught in a snag. _____
