HELP FOR NEEDY
CHRISTMAS HAMPERS. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 19. The Christchurch Rotary Club’s appeal for funds to provide Christmas liamncrs for the needy was inaugurated yesterday with a band contest in the Hospital grounds. All the eight bands in the city participated, and a i ” crowd attended. The collection totalled £llO, or £l3 better than 19 Dr Denham, the president, stated that it was hoped to distribute 2000 hampers. A street collection would be taken up next Friday to augment the funds.
