At about 2.45 o’clock this afternoon the Fire Brigade received a call from the corner of Fitzherbert Avenue and College Street and turned out to a washhouse fire at the residence of Mr H. Proctor, 173 College Street. Caused by hot ashes placed outside the wall, the fire caused damage to the wallboards, but its spread was checked before serious dumage could be done.
