LATE PROFESSOR HEWITSON.

LEGACIES TO PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, Dec. 19. Under the will of Professor Hewi'tson, with certain provisions regarding life interests and payment of certain legacies, the residue of the estate is to be transferred to the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand. The Church is directed to apply one-half of the income for or toward the education and training of persons who are or have been resident students in Knox College for anv branch of the work of the Church, whether within or beyond New Zealand. The other half of the income is to be applied for, or toward the education and training of persons of any faculty of the University of New Zealand, or of any other approved university, who are, or have been, resident in Knox College, but are ineligible to receive any benefit under the trusts declared concerning the first-mentioned half of the income.

The will provides for a scheme or schemes to be settled by the council of Knox College with the approval of the General Assembly of the Church to enable proper effect to be given to the bequest.
