GREAT BRITAIN'S DECISION. CANNOT RETURN"FOR SEVERAL YEARS. LONDON, Deo. 19. The Daily Herald’s city editor says that consultations between the Treasury and the Bank of England resulted in a decision that Britain cannot contemplate a return to the gold standard for several years. The payment of gold to the United States has persuaded Air Montagu© Norman, Governor of the Bank of England, that if Britain returned to the gold standard at an early date she would be able to remain on it for a brief period only.
