OIL CONCESSIONS
ANGLO-PERSIAN DISPUTE. SUBMISSION TO LEAGUE. GREAT BRITAIN’S STATEMENT. (United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received December 20, 9.40 a.m. GENEVA, Dee. 19. Reaffirming its desire lor an amicable and fair agreement regarding the An-glo-Pcrsiau oil concessions, the British Government submitted a long memorandum to the League, denying tho charge that Britain had impeded an agreement and contending that there should have been a resort to arbitration under article 17 of the agreement. “As Persia had already decided to notify the Council of Britain’s intimidating and almost threatening attitude in Persia, we have no objection to the matter being laid before the Council,” states the Persian memorandum that was presented to the Council. It adds: “There is no reason for urgency because Persia does not intend to take measures against the Anglo-Persian Company pending an agreement.” SITUATION NOT TO BE AGGRAVATED. GENEVA, Doe. 19. Persia has intimated that she cannot immediately present to the League of Nations her full case respecting the Anglo-Persian oil concessions, but nothing will be done to aggravate the situation. The Council is expected to adjourn the matter till January.
