PLOT IN ARGENTINA

FRUSTRATED BY GOVERNMENT. STAMPING OUT SUBVERSION. QUIET THROUGHOUT COUNTRY. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received December 20, 9.40 a.m. BUENOS AIRES, Dec. 19. As developments confirmed the Government's mastery of the revolutionary plot, Argentina’s political atmosphere to-day became the clearest it has been since constitutionalism was restored in February with a definite dispelling of the threat which has been looming in the background throughout the administration of President Justo. A state of siege was authorised on Saturday, and the Government will probably declare it effective throughout the provinces of Buenos Aires, Cordoba, Corrientes and Larioja. This condition differs from martial law in that the civil Courts oontinue to function. Extra powers will be invoked, however, to stamp out subversion. Quietness prevails throughout the country.
