SWIMMING
HOKOWHITU CLUB’S CARNIVAL. The Hokowhitu garden swimming baths were the scene of an enjoyable carnival conducted by the Hokowhitu Swimming Club last evening. There was a large and enthusiastic attendance of spectators despite the cold wind, and the close finishes which characterised the majority of the events were fully appreciated. The officials in charge of the arrangements were: —Starter. Mr G. D. Pattle; judges, Messrs E. D. Wycherley and J. B. Fleck; diving judges, Messrs W. Schwarz and S. Wilson; call steward, Mr H. Whitehead; time-keep-er, Mr Wilson. The following are the detailed results : Girls’ 25 yards handicap, under 14 years.—B. Reed 1, D. Kingsbeer 2; time, 17 2-ssec. Boys’ 33 1-3 yards handicap, under 14 years.—First heat: Thompson 1, Robert Holmes 2; time, 33 2-ssec. Second heat: Harris 1, Wycherley 2; time, 23 4-ssec. Final: Wycherley 1, Harris 2: time, 34sec. Open 66 2-3 yards breaststroke handicap.—First heat: Tremewan 1, Ralph Holmes 2; time, lmin. 15 2-5 sec. Second heat: Shand 1. Reed 2; time, lmin. 17 4-ssec. Final: Shand 1. Tremewan 2; time. lmin. 15 3-ssec. Ladies’ 33 1-3 yards free-style handicap.—Miss N. Milverton 1, Miss D. Kingsbeer 2, time; 25 3-ssec. Men’s dive.—G. Young 1, D. Plank 2. J. Shand and R. Milverton equal, 3. Ladies’ dive.—D. Kingsbeer 1, M. Bloomfield 2, B. Reed 3. , Men’s 100 yards handicap.—First heat: Pattle "l, Milverton 2; time, 1 min. 26 4-ssec. At the conclusion of tlie events Mr Pattle expressed the club’s thanks to the for their attendance.
