PAHIATUA.
PAHIATUA, Doc. 20. Mrs McFarlane and Miss McFarlane, Palmerston North, wore the guests of Mrs F. T. Horne, of Ballanco, during tho week-end. Miss M. Horne, Palmerston North, is sponding tho Christmas vacation with her parents, Mr and Mrs F. T. Horne, at Ballanco. During the week-end tho Mangamutu Tennis Club played their first match of the season against tho Tutaekara Club, boating them after some very close and exciting . games by 14 sets to 10 and 95 games to 73. To mark the conclusion of a very successful year’s progress by the Bnllance School children, a fancy dress dance was held in tho hall last Friday evening. Tho hall was crowded, visitors being present from suiTOunding districts. Until 10 o’clock the floor was occupied by the scholars and tiny tots who, arrayed in striking and beautiful costumes, treated the adults to some excellent ontertainment.
