RAID IN CHICAGO.
GANGSTER SHOT DEAD. CHICAGO, Dec. 20. Frank Nitti was killed when the police raided a gang’s headquarters in a city office building. The seven gangsters present lined up to the wall meekly enough until the officers noticed Nitti slip a small paper into his mouth and chew violently. A policeman leaped to snatch the paper and Nitti drew a revolver. Ten shots were exchanged before Nitti fell dead.
The mysterious paper contained a list in code suspected to ho names of persons marked down for death in beer wars.
