SMALLPOX IN COLOMBO.

SITUATION UNDER CONTROL. Received December 21, 9.30 a.m. COLOMBO, Dec. 20. There have been thirty-six cases of smallpox to date. The situation is under perfect control and the port surgeon expresses the opinion that it is absolutely - safe for tourists to land if they are vaccinated. All ships’ workers and agents are vaccinated and no person is allowed on board unless he is vaccinated.

Ships entering the port are warned by the authorities that passengers are advised that it is unsafe to land unless they are vaccinated, but there are no restrictions regarding the landing of passengers. There was a lull during the weekend, only one case being reported.
