“V BILL PASSES HOUSE. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) Received December 22, 1.20 p.m. WASHINGTON, Dec. 21. The House of Representatives passed tho Beer Bill with 10 votes to spare alter two days’ tumultuous debate. The vote was 230 to 105. in a crashing finale tho House of Representatives went on record for the legalisation of beer containing 3.2 per cent, of alcohol by weight, equivalent to four per cent, by volume. The final roll call came upon the heels of an overwhelming refusal to send the Bill back to the committee, an action which topped an all day procession of votes to beat back every single amendment offered. The action marked the first time since the adoption of the Volstead Act that either branch of Congress had held a vote directly on the issue of relaxing the fundamental prohibition enforoemo.nt law. The dumber was crowded during the process of the ca I and the galleries were sprinkled with representatives of the wet and dry organisations. Tlio Bill now goes to the Senate.
