OFFICERS’ QUARTERLY AIEETING

The quarterly meeting of the officebearers of the Cuba Street Aletlrodist Church was held last evening. Rev. J. D. AlcArthur presiding over a jgood attendance. Air C. Woodley [opened the meeting with prayer. The report of the congregation showed that during the quarter two I members had passed away and three lhad moved from the district. Alojtions of sympathy were accorded the relatives of the late Mrs I’alhiiit and Air Bishop, with Airs Cheetham, in the passing of her sister, and the relatives of the late Airs Allmand, who had been a member of the Church some years ago. The interim financial statement showed n debit balance of £l7 18s 4d on the quarter’s working, with an income of £l9O 9s lid. Of the home mission objective of £9O. only £SG 2s 4d had been raised to date and it was anticipated that about £OO would

[be received altogether. A report of the envelope system showed an increase lot three subscribers and it was anti'cipated that the income for the quarter would show an increase on the previous quarter, one Sunday's amount yet being outstanding. It was decided that the collections at the churclr anniversary services be devoted to the trust fund.

The Sunday school report for Cuba Street, given by the superintendent, Air T. It. Iloddcr, showed that the attendance at the morning school had improved before it had closed for the holidays There were still vacancies on the teaching staff. The roll of the Longburn Sunday school, by Air D. Sorenson’s report, showed an average attendance of 24 out of 31 scholars and that of the Cloverlea school, submitted by Airs Screech, showed that two pupils had been gained and one lost, so that the total was 15, with an average attendance of 14.

Alcssrs A. H. Fisher and T. R. Hodder were unanimously re-appoint-ed circuit stewards for a further year, and a tribute was paid by the chairman and members of tlio board to their proven ability Air Fisher was appointed to lie the lay representative at the conference at Auckland in February. The meeting was formally notified of the officers who had been appointed at the congregational meeting a week ago.

It was decided that Mr AlcArthur lie granted the second and third Sundays in tho new quarter as his annual leave.

The meeting placed on record its keen appreciation of the generosity and assistance which Air and Airs I). Coll is had given Hie circuit l>v permitting the recent successful garden party to lie held at their home in Kaira uga.

Before the meeting closed, Rev. Air AlcArthur reminded the officehen rc-s that he was entering upon his final quarter’s superintendency of the circuit and appealed for co-operation.

“I want to make the next three months the best yet and I ask that the official life of the Church put forward that extra effort that will make the final quarter ol my ministry the most effective, and make the now minister feel that he has come among a spiritually-minded people.” After the Benediction iiad been pronounced by Air Hodder, tire ladies served supper, for which they were cordially thanked.
