DAIRY FACTORIES.

OBJECTION TO REGULATIONS. WELLINGTON, Dec. 22. Objection to regulations issued recently by Order-in-Council providing for the licensing of dairy factories on the basis of their “economic necessity” was voiced at a meeting yesterday of the executive of the Associated Chambers of Commerce. Members remarked that the regulations were of a similar nature to those issued earlier in the year under the Board of Trade Act in respect of picture theatres, and which had raised considerable criticism. They were another instance of restriction of private enterprise, the ordinary flow of capital and the freedom of business. It was decided to write to the Minister of Agriculture expressing the views of the executive on the subject, and objecting to the regulations.
