THE WEATHER
GENERAL FORECAST. An anti-cyclone located east of New Zealand has intensified, while the depression on the Tasman Sea has been gradually filling up. Moderate to strong easterly to northerly winds, but a southerly change setting in during Friday night or Saturday. Rather rough seas on parts of the East Coast; elsewhere smooth to moderate in New Zealand waters. Moderate north-east winds, later veering to southerlies, and seas moderate in = the eastern Tasman Sea. Further scattered rain in eastern and far northern districts of the North Island; elsewhere fair to cloudy at first, but later rain becoming more widespread. Warm temperatures. DISTRICT REPORT. SULTRY CONDITIONS. The Government meteorologist telegraphed to-day : —The indications are for moderate to strong north-east winds. The weather will be cloudy to overcast with scattered rain.
