FOXTON.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON, Deo. 23, Mr and Mrs A. Fraser intend spending the holidays in the Sounds. Mr and Mrs S. Austin and family left yesterday for Wellington, where they intend spending tho holidays. Mrs Baker, of Palmerston North, is visiting her daughter, Mrs 0. Edwards, of Foxton. Mr and Mrs W. Signal and family, of Wellington, are spending the holidays at Manawatu Heads. Mrs L. Bullard and family of Ruatoria, aro visiting Mrs J. (I. llonorc, of Avenue Road. Mr N. Wishart, of Wellington, arrived homo last evening to spend the holidays with his parents, Mr and Mrs A. Wishart, of Park Street,. Mr B. Chrystall, who has just completed three years’ study at the Methodist Theological College at Auckland, has returned to Foxton and intends spending a holiday with his parents, Mr and Mrs J. Chrystall, of Lady’s Mile. A local Maori concert party, assisted by the Tahiwi family, of Otaki, gave a successful entertainment in the Town Hall on Thursday evening. Tho purpose of the concert was to raise funds towards the erection of the old Maori Church at Moutoa, which was some little time ago dismantled for the purposo of renewing the foundations, etc. Mr B. Karkeek, in tho interim, gave a brief but interesting outline of tho history of tho church for which tho funds wero being raised, dating the years of its original construction as 1884, the work being done entirely by The Natives of that district. Tho timber, ho said, was floated down from Longburn (known as Kairanga), being cut from two totara trees specially secured for the purposo as the result of a dream that had impressed itself upon the mind of one of the Maori leaders of that time. A danco was held at the conclusion of the concert.
