SHOPPERS IN CITY.
RAIN THIS AFTERNOON. Expectations of a large crowd of Christmas shoppers in the city this afternoon were fulfilled, and there were busy scenes, the augmented staffs of business firms being requested to work at High pressure. There was a heavy shower of ram at 2 p.m., but it was not of long duration.
