AUSTRALIAN BOYS’ BAND.
(To the Editor). Sir,—This band, it t will be noted, has had an enthusiastic reception in Auckland, and is most highly spoken of by str Hugh ,T. Ward who is at present in Australia but who is wellknown to New Zealanders as a keen critic. Praise from such an authority must be richly deserved. These boys, 38 in number, who have been specially selected, arrive in Palmerston North on Saturday, the 31st inst., leaving on Wednesday, January 4. The whole of ythe net proceeds from the tour are devoted to charity, nnd for this reason the committee is desirous of billeting all the bov.s privately. This has been arranged for in all the other cities and Towns, but owing to the holiday season the local committee are having some difficulty in this respect. I would therefore urgently appeal to any of our citizens, who ran, to plea=o assist us in billeting these boys, whoso ages range from Bto 16 years. It is intended to ask the boys to give a performance in Feilding on Sunday afternoon, January 1, and further it is intended j to take the boys to the Y.51.C.A. camp I at Pohangina on Monday, January 2, leaving at 9.30 a.m. and returning in the afternoon. For both these outings cars are required. Will citizens therefore come to the assistance of the committee and help either with cars or the billeting of boys? A telephone communication either to slr K. G. Chamberlain, the secretary, or myself, will be appreciated.—l am, etc. A. E. 51ANSFORD, slayor.
