27TH PALMERSTON NORTH STAKES. AUTOPAY’S EASY WIN. TIME A RACE RECORD. Clipping four-fiths of a second off the standing figures, a race record was established by the time made in the 27th Palmerston North Stakes at the Manawatu races this afternoon. Only five of the original seven acceptors went to the post, Good Hunting and Drum Fire declining their engagements. Autopay (£597) was made favour.to from Lady Quex (£370) and this judgment proved to bo correct, for the pair paid the dividends. Wait and See missed the jump out, but was forced along to join Lady Quex at the end of the first furlong. However, Autopay in turn deposed the lenders to take charge and tho favourite led Lady Quex and Wait and See across the top. Once in line for home, the two leaders luid the finish to themselves, Autopay seeing out tho distance with determination to win bv 2i lengths from Lady Quex, with View Halloo, which came from the rear, filling third place five lengths back and just ahead of Posy.
