HOTEL DESTROYED.

BOARDER’S SAVINGS LOST. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, Dec;. 27. The Waipiata Hotel, owned by Mr T. O’Connor, of Christchurch, and leased by Mr J. Morrison, was completely destroyed by fire last evening. It was a two-storeyed brick and wooden building of 16 rooms. At 11 o’clock the building Was blazing fiercely, but by that time the 40 visitors had vacated the hotel. Most of the furniture and stock were removed. It is believed that a boarder lost his 38 years’ savings and that the takings of a sports meeting held in the afternoon also were lost.
