BERMUDA’S DECISION.
EXTENSION OF EMPIRE TRADE. NEW YORK, Dec. 23. The apprehensions, attributed to Senator Ooolidge, that Bermuda intended placing a prohibitive tariff on United States food products, is not justified, it is pointed out in authoritative quarters. An authority on trade between Bermuda and Canada said that all Bermuda has done is to fall into lino with British AVest Indian colonies, such as Trinidad, Jamaica, etc., in extending an additional tariff preference to certain products of the British Empire, not merely Canadian, following the Ottawa agreements. In Bermuda these preferences become effective on January 1.
