BUDGETING FOR A DEFICIT,

EDUCATION VOTE HIGHER

Received December 28, 11.30 a.m, ROME, Dec. 27,

A deficit of 48 million sterling at the present exchange is provided in the official estimates of the 1933-4 Budget. The Government, nevertheless, is planning higher expenditure than in 1932-3. The increase is partly devoted to reproductive purposes, including land reclamation, agricultural development, and relief work for unemployed. The expenditure on education is increased but the fighting services is reduced.
