NEGOTIATIONS PROCEEDING,

100,000 ANIMALS MAY BE TAKEN.

(United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received December 28, 9.40 a.m. OTTAWA, Dec. 27.

Negotiations between Canada and Russia are now going on and may result in tho sale to Russia of 100,000 head of Canadian cattle, chiefly dairy stock, according to information obtained from persons connected with the negotiations. In Government circles it was indicated that no announcement will be made until the negotiations are at a more advanced stage. The Minister of Agriculture, Mr Robert Weir, admitted that he had been working on a proposal to exchange Russian oil for Canadian cattle for several weeks.

According to well-informed interests, a company would be organised in Winnipeg to deal with Russia if the negotiations were successful.
