THE WEATHER
GENERAL FORECAST. An anti-cyclone covered the Dominion yesterday, its centre being off the East Coast. A rather steep depression is situated on the western side of the Tasman »Sea. Moderate and variable winds, but northerlies soon prevailing and gradually freshening. Seas smooth to moderate in New Zealand waters. Northerly winds freshening and becoming strong in tire southern portion of the eastern Tasman Sea; seas moderate but rising. YYeather fair to fine generally with rising temperatures. Cloud increasing soon, however, in western districts, and rain developing later from Taranaki southward and in the far north and south. DISTRICT REPORT. FAIR TO CLOUDY. The Government meteorologist telegraphed to-day: The indications are for freshening' north-east to north winds. There is a prospect of fair to cloudy weather. Expect warm and humid conditions, later becoming cloudy and unsettled. Tho barometer is unsteady, with a falling tendency.
