SENSATIONAL ACCIDENT.

POLICE COURT SEQUEL. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Dec. 29. A middle-aged man, whose name was suppressed by the Magistrate meanwhile, was charged in the Police Court this morning with being intoxicated while in charge of a car. He was remanded oil bail till Monday. The charge followed a sensational accident in Queen Street late xesteidav a.fternoon, when a large sedan car apparently out of control, descended Shorthand' Street, which is steep, and dashed into the main thoroughfare. It struck an English visitor, Mr Robert Dudley Walrond, aged 55, who had just arrived from Rotorua. Mr V alrond was hurled in'the air and knocked unconscious. The car continued across Queen Street, struck an electric fuse box and stopped on the footpath. Air Walrond was removed to the hospital where his condition was stated to-day to be not serious.
