From the Wellington Presbyterian Orphanage St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Feilding, has received the following acknowledgment of the annual collections in aid of the city orphanage:—“Very many thanks. We note that the signs of the times reflect themselves in the offering. Nevertheless, we realise that it represents probably a greater sacrifice than the larger amounts of previous years. We have all come down to the basis of sharing instead of sparing and it is probably all for our own good.” ALLEGED ROBBERY. A Feilding freezing works employee is alleged to have been assaulted and robbed while returning from work on Saturday, last. The alleged occurrence is said to have taken place near the Aorangi bridge, the assailant being reported to have had a mask on at the time. A sum representing a week’s wages at the freezing works is said to have been taken from the victim, whilst he was momentarily knocked out. The police have made investigations into the affair, which has been the subject of many rumours during the past few days. PERSONAL. Rev. D. R. McDonald, accompanied by Mrs McDonald and family, is spending a month’s holiday in Auckland. NOTES. From the chain workers at the Feeding freezing works Rev. Canon Petrie has received the sum of £3 os 6d for the Christmas cheer fund. The money will be used to provide New Year gifts for the children.
