The Governments of Britain and Canada will lend Newfoundland a million and a-quarter dollars to assist her in meeting an interest payment due on January 1, the Prime Minister, Air F. C. Alderdice, said, in a New Year message to-day. Each Government will contribute half that amount. The remaining interest, about 75,000 dollars, will be paid by Newfoundland., _ A joint commission of three experts from Britain, Canada and Newfoundland will examine Newfoundland’s financial structure.
