WOMAN’S DEATH.

EVIDENCE AT INQUEST. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Oct. 4. That deceased met her death by drowning through taking a hot bath at her residence was the verdict given by the Coroner (Mr Gilbertson) at the inquest on the body of Mrs Alma Madd Bell, of Northland. Her husband said that in 192(3 deceased underwent a major operation in Melbourne and since then had continuously suffered severe headaches, having visited various doctors and practitioners while in Australia. She was in the habit of taking drugs and since her arrival in New Zealand had been under medical care. On July 14 she started a course with a chiropractor and promised to stop taking drugs, but continued to suffer from severe headaches. She suffered from giddiness and swooning turns on occasions. Witness went on to say that she complained of a headache on the night of September 25 and at 11.16 p.m. took a bath in an attempt to ease it. Witness said he went to sleep and on wakening at 6 a.m. saw his wife’s bed had not been slept in. Subsequently, he found his wife dead in the hath with her head under the water. Medical evidence was also given.
