WOMEN’S INSTITUTES.
GROUP MEETING AT RONGOTEA. (From Our Own Correspondent.) RONGOTEA, Oct. 3. About 200 delegates, representing 11 branches of the Women’s Institute movement, gathered at tho Coronation Hall this afternoon for tho half-yearly group meeting. Those who were fortunate enough to bo in attendance had thoroughly enjoyed the journey hero, tho countryside being at its best, with early spring growth and the warm glow of sunshine. When Mrs R. Scott (president of the Rongotca branch) extended a welcome to tho visitors, she was greeted with hearty applause. Mrs A. J. Will (convener of the group committee) occupied the chair. The minutes of tho last group meeting wore read by Mrs A. Hobbs (Oroua Downs). The next meeting of tho group is to be held at Bulls in February, and one competition arranged for that time, is a jumper to bo mado from 4s worth of New Zealand wool. Mrs R. Kelso, who was present, gave a brief address, stating that the Women’s Institute movement had become a real national one, entering into tho lives and homos of many thousands, and it was something to bo proud of. A brief programme _ of items was rendered by tho following:—Miss_ Doherty, song: Miss M. Smith, musical item; Miss M. Will, pianoforte solo; Miss Catt, recitation: Miss Karehana, solo; playettc, Oroua Downs Institute; folk dancing, Bulls Institute. Afternoon tea, served by tho local members, brought a very happy gathering to a close.
