CURING THE SLUMP.
HUMOUR AT LUNCH CLUB
Yesterday’s meeting of the Palmerston North Citizens’ Lunch Club deEarted from the usual procedure of aving a speaker dealing with a definite subject, and the half hour usually devoted to a speech was given over to laughter at comic suggestions offered by various members as to how the slump should be cured. The unusual aspect given to the proceedings commenced when tli6 chairman, Mr J. H. Dick, took an inordinate amount of time in introducing the speaker. He submitted a few of bis own opinions before Mr A. V. Pizzey commenced on his subject “Cure That Slump.” Mr Pizzey told the club that it was the best slump that had ever been known. Mr P. S. Laroomb took up the running. He was followed by Mr G. Pattie and then Mr L. Sinclair. Mr J. A. Grant and Mr O. M. Lasoelles, who contributed to the humour. In conclusion, Mr Pizzey said that such was his cure for the slump—to have a good la.ugh for half an hour. Mr R. H. Spencer proposed the vote of thanks to the speakers and in his turn contributed to the enjoyment of the gathering. The visitors welcomed were Messrs L. Bayliss (Cambridge). T. M. N. Rodgers and F. B. Wright (Palmerston North). New members welcomed were Messrs L. J. Hagan, F. W. Ivey, I. L. Seator, A. G. F. Lawson, P. C. Wallace and A. C. Zimmerman.
