PIGEON FLYING.

With fine weather and a following wind excellent times were registered by the Manawatu Homing Pigeon Club’s birds from„ Frankton Junction over the week-end, the distance being 178 miles airline. Eighty birds competed. The following are the first five placings:.-—Mr T. Inkpen’s Glowing, 1360.6yds pci' minute, 1; Mr A. E. Marshall’s blk. chequer hen, 1345.8, 2; Mr N. Harvey’s Non-nicer, 1344.2, 3; Milford Lofts’s Lone Star, 1334.9, 4; Mr L. Purton’s All Red, 1333.5, 5. Over the next week-end a flock race from Auckland will be held.
