ROAD CYCLE RACE.
ARRANGEMENTS FOR EVENT. Arrangements for the approaching cycle road race from Wanganui to Palmerston North, for which 70 entries have been received, were discussed at a meeting of the Manawatu Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club, last evening. Mr C. M. Stagpoole presided, others present being Messrs E. AVoollett, I. Ross, G. Cooksely, F. Manning, A. Divehall, J. Rush, G. Little, L. Ward, <3. Prouse, C. Hyde, H. Rogers and N. C. Dixon (secretary). Officials for Saturday’s race were appointed as follow: —Starters, Messrs C. Chainey and G. Cooksley; referee, Mr N. Dixon; time-keepers, Messrs AVeston J. Smith, C. Chainey; number steward, Mr C. Hyde; road stewards, Messrs G. Cooksley, C. Hyde, C. Cbainey, H. Hewgill, H. Jensen,' A. Dirchall, I*. AV. Aisher; judges, Messrs C. Olsen, G. Little, J. Rush, H. Divehall, H. Rogers, F. AAL Aisher, J. Boucher, L. Ward, J. AValker, G. Springer, H. Hewgill; call stewards, Messrs O. Prouse and G. Springer; protest committee, Messrs Cooksley, Chainey, Olsen, Aisher and Dixon. It was decided that no unfinancial member should be eligible to start, and that the president of the centre (Mr Aisher) should present the prizes at the afternoon tea following the race. A vote of thanks was passed to donors of trophies for the race. Mr L. AVard was appointed delegate to the Sports’ Queen Committee.
