ADVOCACY FOR DOMINION. THE MONETARY SYSTEM. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Oct. 4. The president of the Council of Christian Congregations, Rev. AV. AV. Averill speaking at the annual meeing, said there was a definite responsibility on the Churches to intervene in the present social and economic confusion. The root of the distresses of to-day was not war, tariffs, or debts, but the selfishness of the existing monetary system. It was the responsibility of the Church to demand a full inquiry into the monetary system of the Dominion and have resolutions passed at every synod and union meeting pressing for such an inquiry. There had been enough talk about Christian principles. AVhat was needed was a definite Christian platform.
