VACANT JUDGESHIP.

APPOINTMENT CONSIDERED. (By Telegraph.—Special to Standard.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 4. The filling of the vacant judgeship in succession to Mr Justice Adams is receiving Cabinet consideration, but no appointment has yet been decided upon. It is expected, however, tha.t an announcement will be made at an early date. There are excellent grounds for belief that Mr A. IT. Johnstone, a prominent Auckland barrister, is the most likely appointee. Suggestions have been made that the Government is also considering the question of appointing a new Judge to handle all applications arising out of the mortgagors relief legislation, but it is gathered that no action is to be taken in' this direction.
