MILSON WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.
There was a large attendance of members at the October meeting of the Milson Women’s Institute, Mrs F. G. Murphy presiding. After some discussion it was decided that the institute join the Longburn group, Mesda.mes Murphy and. Templeton being appointed delegates to attend group meetings. Potatoes were distributed among members who have entered the potato growing competition. Mesdames Henderson and King were appointed delegates to attend the half-yearly Federation Council meeting to be held at Pahiatua this month. Arrangements were finalised for a “hard up” social and dance to be held next week. At the conclusion of the business, Mrs Buchanan, of Bainesse, gave a very interesting demonstration on pine-needle work, several members commencing articles. The demonstrator was accorded a vote of thanks. The competition for the day. a vase of spring flowers, was won by Mrs Harvey, with Miss D’Ath second, and Mrs Whitehead third. A musical competition was won by Mesdames Houten and Grey, four ladies being placed second. A play reading by members of the Drama Circle was well received, those taking part being Mesdames Sinclair and King, and Misses Robinson and Munro. ,■
The programme for the November
meeting will include a demonstration bv Mrs E. Short, a competition for a plain sponge cake with filling and a. roll call. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Oliver, Norris, King, Dewhurst, Robbie, Mills, Feehan and Miss Munro, and the meeting was closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
