OBITUARY.
EARL OF CADOGAN. Received October 5, 9.5 a.m. LONDON, Oct. 4. The death has occurred of the Earl of Cadogan.
The sixth Earl of Cadogan, Gerald Oakley Cadogan, was born in May, 1869, and succeeded his father to the earldom in 1915. Educated at Eton, he saw a great deal of military service, being formerly a lieutenant in the Ist Life Guards and captain in the 3rd Battalion of the Suffolk Regiment. He was A.D.C. to the LordLieutenant of Ireland from 1895 to 1902, served in the South African War (190002) with the mounted infantry and was county commandant of the Suffolk Volunteers. Ho returned with the honorary rank of colonel. The Earl of Cadogon pvas a hereditary trustee of tho British Museum, chairman of the British Olympic, Council and the British representative on the International Olympic Council. His heir is Viscount Chelsea.
