DANTE, THE MAGICIAN

Dante, the world famous magician, concluded his Palmerston North season at the Opera House last“cvoning, when ho entertained a large audience in his mysterious way. His illusions, as on the previous evening, were a source of wonder, while his sleight of hand brought to many keen enjoyment of tricks that though seen in other years never fail to retain their appeal. PICTURE THEATRES. “The King’s Vacation”, at. the Regent Theatre. “Their Night Out,” the piquant comedy which will open to-morrow afternoon at the Palace Theatre, concerns the plight of a young man who is obliged to “cut” a. theatre engagement with his mother-in-law and fathe'r-in-law in order to take a woman buyer from Aberdeen to her first night club. How Claude Hulbert,. as the unfortunate young husband, emerges triumphant from his difficulties assisted by Renee Houston, Binnie Barnes, Judy Kelly, Gus McNaughton, Jimmy Godden and Hal Gordon, provides an hour and a half of supremely funny entertainment. A picture appealing to all classes and alt ages is “No Greater Love,” commencing to-morrow at the Kos.v Theatre. Prosperous people will like it because it shows how the other half lives. The poorer ones will like it because it unfold* a heart story that they themselves might be living. Children will like it because there are kids in it. Grown-ups will like it because is has a tear and a laugh all the way through. The cast includes Dickie Moore. Alexander Carr. Richard Bennett, Beryl Mercer, Betty Jane Graham, Hobart Bosworth, Alec Francis, and Helen Jerome Eddy. Tim McCoy in “Shot Gun Pass” and the fifth chapter of “Clancy of the Mounted” are supporting items.
