BUTTER AND CHEESE QUOTATIONS. Joseph Nathan and Co., Ltd,, have received from London the following cabled adivce, dated October 4:—Now Zealand butter: Finest, 100 s to 101 s per cwt. New Zealand cheese: White and coloured, 49s per cwt. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Coy., Ltd., havo received the following advico from thoir London house dated October 4 :—Dairy produco (last week’s quotations in parentheses) : Butter, N.Z. choicest salted. 100 s to 102 s per cwt (107 s finest, 104 s first grade). Cheese: white, 50s per cwt (535) ; coloured, 49s to 50s per cwt (535). Market very slow. W. Weddel and Co., Ltd., London, report dated October 4: —Butter: Danish, 106 s. N.Z. finest, 102 s. Kangaroo, 103 s. Market quiet. Cheese: N.Z. white and coloured, 50s. Market quiet. LEVIN STOCK SALE. ALL ROUND IMPROVEMENT. All stock offered at Levin yards on Tuesday met with keen competition, especially in the case of pork and mutton, which were in short supply, and there was an all-round improvement in values as compared with recent rates, says the Chronicle. The sheep yarded comprised mainly ewes of varying quality* and these were keenly sought after. Primest sorts made up to 25s 3d, the highest price recorded at local yards for a considerable period. Beef prices were firm, with a slight increase on last week’s rates while store cattle met with ready sale at advanced prices. Dairy heifers were again offered in largo quantities, but the demand was better and values, on an average, were 10s per head above last week. The offering of both store and fat pigs was insufficient to meet the demand and prices accordingly showed an appreciable rise. Realisations were as follows:

Sheep.—Prime heavy woolly ewes, 25s 3d; fat woolly ewes, 22s 6d, 23s 8d; medium do., 18s 2d, 20s 2d. Cattle. —Heavy fat cows, £3 15s, £4, £4 ss. £5; fat P.A. heifers, £5; fat eowi, dairy sorts, 395, £2 2s, £2 4s, £2 12s; forward condition do., 295, 30s, 325; store do., 20s, 225, 235, 245; yearling heifers, £2 Is, £2 12s; yoarling dairy bulls, £2 2s 6d, £2 10s; 2year and upwards, £4, £4 ss, £5 2s 6d, £5 12s 6d to £B. PAHIATUA SALE. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report oil the weekly, sale held at Pahiatua on Tuesday, when a good yarding of dairy stock came forward. Bidding was dull. Sales were: — Account N. C. Sorensen: Springing heifers (good), £4 10s. Account B. Hislop: Springing heifers, £3 ss. Account J. Anderson: Springing heifers, £3 3s; heifer in profit, £3 7s 6d. Account A. E. Morgan: Springing- heifers, £3 10s, £3; store cows, 275. Account A. Booth: Springing three-year heifers, £4 15s; second calvere, £4 15s. FROZEN MEAT. Lambs are par to id lower; second qualifcy, id lower; wethers and owes, gd lower. The lamb market is dull owing to heavy arrivals of homo killed; and the wethers and ewes market is dull, but it is expected to improve shortly. The foregoing cablegram has, been received by M. A. Eliott, Ltd., from Gordon, Woodroffc and Co., Ltd., London.
