ASHHURST.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) ASHHTTRST, Oct. 5. The season of the Ashhurst Ping-Pong Club culminated on Monday evening last in a special tournament niglrt. Four rounds of play were completed and thb finals played, off with the result that the lady’s prize was claimed by Miss S. Read and the -men’s by Mr N. Brewer. At the conclusion of play, the members adjourned to the supper-room where a bountiful supper bad been daintily arranged by the committee ladies. Various _ toasts, including that of Misses Doris and Jean Mitchell, who are leaving the district, were honoured. The. evening concluded with a few dances,: music being supplied by lady members and Mr H. Bristow. The “Methodist Maori, misison party' paid its annual visit to Ashhurst and the district during the last week. The service at the Ashhurst Church; on Sunday morning was conducted by Sister . Ropata and the assistance of the Maori choir added considerably to the singing. A concert given by. the party on Tuesday evening at the Town Hall drew a largo audienco which thoroughly appreciated the varied programme given.
